How to Make a Lettuce Wrapped Burger

Ok, ok, let's face it ...

Eating a lettuce wrapped ANYTHING is not a pleasurable experience.

There.

I said it.

Out loud.  For all the blogworld / internet to see.

Come on, you are in agreement. I see you over there nodding your head. And YOU, I saw that tilt of the head. Don't be ashamed, it's the truth!

So, I'm here to show YOU how I do it ...

This all came from one of my meal prep posts and someone sent me an email inquiring just how I was going to eat that at the office. At my desk. In front of others. In my work clothes.

Good question(s).

So here you go:

Wash that lettuce up and dry it out well.

Layer it like so:

Just lay it side by side and overlap the edges a bit. I was using the mini romaine lettuce leaves that are just little mini things and fairly firm.

Set a few leaves off to the side ... you'll need these later.

Place your burger in the upper portion of the lettuce "nest"

Just like so ... and yes, that burger looks slightly over cooked. I'm well aware of that, thank you very much.

Add some bacon ... because? BACON! That's why. Ok, it's not a requirement, but highly recommended! Doesn't that bacon look yummy? Makes the over cooked burger so much more attractive!

Add all your condiments .... you know, ketchup, ranch, mayo, mustard, whatever makes your skirt fly up today!

Top it with that stray piece of lettuce I told you to set aside earlier. Secret Tip? Don't put the flatter side down, keep it like a dome so when you put pressure on the lettuce, it will smush it down. *Yes, that burger is way overdone!*

See what I mean about the way the lettuce should be put on top?

Yup, I was ready to dig in and eat that! When you pick up the burger, just gather and wrap the edges of the lettuce upwards to the top and go for it!

This was a fun little step by step for me to share ... I know that when I see people eating these things I'm like how on earth did they get that! No secret now!

I'm looking forward to showing you a LETTUCE WRAP SANDWICH soon because that is a little intimidating if you don't know how it's done!

Come clean, do you eat lettuce wrapped burgers??

Looking forward to sharing with some of these GREAT Parties ... go check them out!

  2. I make lettuce wraps and I do kind of miss the bread. I suppose if I did it enough I might get use to it. Next time I make one of my turkey burgers I will give it a try. Thanks for sharing with Fiesta Friday.
